Together, Marc and Yves subsequently designed a motor-catamaran ambulance that could navigate the shallow waters in the region. The idea was to transport urgent medical teams and equipment to the most inaccessible parts of the Ganges Delta.
Two ambulances were built in a yard set up especially for the occasion, using local Bangladeshi workers and materials. Marc Van Peteghem and Yves Marre then decided to take the project further with the creation of Watever, an NGO aimed at developing “Useful Floating Solutions” for impoverished populations living along the banks of the river.
