Wind Voyage<\/a> aims to produce the first hybrid expedition yacht featuring wind-assisted propulsion in the world<\/strong>. At 106 metres long, the yacht draws inspiration from Canop\u00e9e<\/em><\/a>, the vessel designed to transport parts of the Ariane 6 rocket. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar to Canop\u00e9e, Wind Voyage integrates OceanWings <\/a>technology, a wind-assisted propulsion solution featuring rigid wingsails to significantly increase the ship\u2019s energy self-sufficiency while reducing her dependence on fossil fuels. The yacht could achieve up to 12 knots under sail thanks to her four OceanWings<\/strong>. Hydrogeneration under sail, associated with integrated solar panels, would enable the vessel to undertake certain zero-emission operations<\/strong>, as well as considerably reduce underwater noise pollution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supplementary propulsion takes the form of electric motors powered by diesel gensets (and for short durations, by deep-cycle batteries) with a maximum range of 8,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
