The deadline was tight and the discussions between the architects and the recent victor of the Vend\u00e9e Globe were very productive. There was nothing revolutionary about her structure, it being <\/span><b>an assemblage of parts made in the moulds of her six predecessors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Multihull Geant\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GJ8vd9p8fDU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">G\u00e9ant<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s innovations were concentrated in the appendices, in the form of trimmable lifting surfaces and <\/span><b>larger curved foils <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which allowed her to rise out of the water more frequently and safely. The racing conditions were devastating for the fleet and of the eighteen multihulls taking the line off Saint Malo, only three arrived in Guadeloupe. Two years later Desjoyeaux made it two in a row by <\/span><b>winning The Transat 2004<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
