Cr\u00eapes Whaou!\u00a02<\/i><\/b> then <\/span>Ma\u00eetre Jacques<\/i><\/b> then<\/span> Ciela Village<\/i><\/b> then <\/span>Drekan Groupe<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Built for <\/span>Franck-Yves Escoffier<\/b>, <\/span>Cr\u00eapes Whaou!\u00a02<\/span><\/i> was the <\/span>first of a new generation<\/b> of 50\u2019 multihulls and the first Multi50 (renamed Ocean Fifty in 2021) designed by VPLP. Power, manoeuvrability and value for money being the priority, the firm drew heavily on its experience designing ORMAs to produce a <\/span>trimaran optimized for a stringent set of class rules <\/b>which, initially, banned foils, pivoting masts and hydraulics. From the outset <\/span>Cr\u00eapes Whaou!\u00a02<\/span><\/i> started <\/span>a winning spree<\/b>, including successive victories in the Jacques Vabre (2005\u20132007) and the 2006 Route du Rhum.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lo\u00efc F\u00e9quet<\/b> raced her under the name of <\/span>Ma\u00eetre Jacques<\/span><\/i> from 2011 and, after considerable modifications (mast and floats), she continued to perform well in the class. In 2015 <\/span>Thierry Bouchard <\/b>bought the Multi50 and renamed her <\/span>Ciela Village<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two years later it was <\/span>Eric Defert<\/b>\u2019s turn at the helm, competing as <\/span>Drekan Groupe<\/span><\/i>. Unfortunately the boat capsized in the 2017 Transat Jacques Vabre and had to be abandoned. She reappeared in February 2019 off the coast of the Bahamas, still in one piece!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
