Macif <\/strong>then SMA <\/strong>then Banque Populaire X<\/strong> then Monnoyeur – Duo for a job<\/strong> then Caf\u00e9 Joyeux<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macif was <\/span>the last of the monohull<\/b> IMOCAs designed by VPLP and Guillaume Verdier for the 2012\u201313 Vend\u00e9e Globe<\/b>. Hampered by a late launch, which reduced the amount of preparation time available, she nevertheless benefited from all the latest optimizations resulting from VPLP\u2019s continuous research programme.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such tardiness going in the water didn\u2019t prevent her from <\/span>winning, under the command of Fran\u00e7ois Gabart, the 2012\u201313 Vend\u00e9e Globe <\/b>and the Route du Rhum in 2014, beating her sistership <\/span>Banque Populaire<\/span><\/i> by a canvas. <\/span>Macif<\/span><\/i> secured numerous records including the<\/span> 24 hour distance record for a single-handed monohull, clocking up 534 nautical miles<\/b> (since beaten by <\/span>Hugo Boss<\/span><\/i>).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2015 she was <\/span>acquired by Desjoyeaux\u2019s Mer Agit\u00e9e racing team for Paul Meilhat and SMA<\/b>. Her very successful and optimized design, which continues to feature straight daggerboards, has been giving foilers a run for their money. She finished second in the 2017 Transat Jacques Vabre and, the following year,<\/span> secured <\/span>victory in the Route du Rhum<\/b> to much acclaim.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, under new sponsorship from Banque Populaire, <\/span>Clarisse Cr\u00e9mer<\/b> skippered her in the 2020\u201321 Vend\u00e9e Globe, finishing in 12th position and, as a result, becoming <\/span>the fastest woman to sail round the world<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
