{"id":20258,"date":"2015-01-26T09:48:22","date_gmt":"2015-01-26T08:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/projet\/bureau-vallee-2\/"},"modified":"2025-03-07T10:59:31","modified_gmt":"2025-03-07T09:59:31","slug":"bureau-vallee-2","status":"publish","type":"projet","link":"https:\/\/www.vplp.fr\/en\/racing\/medallia-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Medallia 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><i>Banque Populaire\u00a0VIII<\/i><\/b>\u00a0then\u00a0<b><i>Bureau Vall\u00e9e 2<\/i><\/b>\u00a0then\u00a0<b><i>Medallia\u00a02<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Vincent Lauriot-Pr\u00e9vost explains the concept implemented by VPLP when designing\u00a0<i>Banque Populaire\u00a0VIII<\/i>,\u00a0<b>winner of the 2016\u201317 Vend\u00e9e Globe<\/b>: \u201cRather than aiming for versatility, we designed a boat which could\u00a0<b>achieve significant gains\u00a060% of the time<\/b>, and smaller losses\u00a020% of the time.\u201d As with\u00a0<i>Safran\u00a0II<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Banque Populaire\u00a0VIII<\/i>\u00a0features a bulky bow section, a powerful hull shape with a significant righting moment and, of course, foils.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10325\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/banque-pop-750.jpg\" alt=\" width=\" height=\"467\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you cant the keel windward,\u201d says Vincent, \u201cthe fin of the keel generates the boat\u2019s lift and, to counter the heeling force, we deploy the foils which compensate for the loss of power by generating vertical thrust.\u201d The boat isn\u2019t more powerful but\u00a0<b>she sails lighter, with less wetted surface<\/b>, supported by the much talked about appendages.<\/p>\n<p>Winner of the Vend\u00e9e Globe in 74 days and 3 hours with skipper Armel Le Cl\u00e9ac\u2019h, the 60-footer then went to\u00a0<b>Louis Burton<\/b>\u00a0who, sailing in the livery of Bureau Vall\u00e9e, caused a sensation in the following edition of the single-handed round-the-world race by<b>\u00a0finishing in third place<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10328\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Bureau-Vallee-2-credit-Jean-Marie-Liot.jpg\" alt=\" width=\" height=\"467\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She was bought immediately afterwards by British yachtswoman\u00a0<b>Pip Hare<\/b>\u00a0for her attempt at the 2024 Vend\u00e9e Globe, racing under the name of\u00a0<i>Medallia\u00a02<\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Banque Populaire VIII puis Bureau Vall\u00e9e 2\u00a0puis Medallia 2<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":19073,"template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"prix":[99],"taille":[104],"propulsion":[109],"coques":[115],"poles-activites":[116],"class_list":["post-20258","projet","type-projet","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","prix-with-award","taille-50-a-80-en","propulsion-sail","coques-monohull","poles-activites-racing"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v21.6 (Yoast SEO v26.0) -
