She is 121 m long and powered by four 363 m\u00b2 wingsails set on 36 m masts.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In 2018 the\u00a0<strong>Ariane Group called for tenders to transport parts of the\u00a0<em>Ariane 6<\/em>\u00a0rocket<\/strong>\u00a0from ports in Europe to Kourou, French Guiana. VPLP drew up a preliminary project centred on a<strong>\u00a0RORO vessel rigged with Oceanwings wingsails (363 m\u00b2)<\/strong>, also developed by the firm, and ran simulations on the potential fuel savings. The shipping company\u00a0Z\u00e9phyr &amp; Bor\u00e9e\u00a0subsequently joined the project, bringing to the table its expertise in order to adapt the design to the specific constraints of carrying the\u00a0<em>Ariane 6<\/em>.\u00a0Jifmar\u00a0and Z\u00e9phyr &amp; Bor\u00e9e joined forces to establish the\u00a0<strong>Aliz\u00e9s\u00a0shipping company, which then tendered the winning proposal<\/strong>.\u00a0Jifmar Guyane will become the shipowner.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13099 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Im-1-Corps-de-texte-Canopee-700x490px.png\" alt=\" width=\" height=\"490\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canop\u00e9e is the <\/span><b>first commercial application of the Oceanwings concept<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and, in proportion to her main propulsion system, she will harness the wind more than any other modern vessel.
