In a similar vein to Komorebi, Manifesto and Ampersand, W/Y Evidence belongs to a new category of project developed by VPLP in recent years: monohulls and multihulls featuring hybrid propulsion which leverages mechanical power and hard wingsails. This 156’ “wing yacht” catamaran is fitted with a fully automated, furlable and stowable wing sail. She is one of VPLP’s most meticulous concepts, the firm having undertaken considerable design studies without any commercial guarantees as to the outcome of the project. As for her name, you could say that “Evidence” refers to proof of concept, or is an indication of what tomorrow holds in store for cruising.

She represents VPLP’s stance on the future of yachting, a wake up call aimed at the public and the boat industry. W/Y Evidence prefigures a new way of cruising under sail, combining performance, comfort (with spacious, naturally ventilated accommodation) and low energy consumption.
