Fast Foiling Ferry (F3) <br> 30 m version: passenger ferry and offshore

The Fast Foiling Ferry or F3 (pronounced “F Cube”) is the fruit of a technical and commercial partnership between Alwena Shipping, MerConcept and VPLP Design. It’s an innovative ship concept which lays the groundwork for achieving energy transition in the sea transportation sector.

Niuhiti

Developed for the communities of French Polynesia, the Niuhiti is a 25 m catamaran with a 13 m beam designed to carry passengers and freight between the many atolls and islands in the region.

S-Jet / Air Seas

The S-Jet, developed in collaboration with Airbus, went through a number of preliminary designs. The concept was to adapt the control system for winglets, those devices at the tips of aeroplane wings and tails designed to reduce drag, to a 26 m catamaran.

Actual Ultim 3

Macif was designed in close collaboration with François Gabart and his technical team, fresh from their wins in the Vendée Globe and the Route du Rhum. The remit was to produce a boat for solo and short-handed racing and record-breaking. Launched in 2015, she is almost as beamy as her rivals and carries the same amount of sail, but weighs in two tonnes lighter.

Comanche

Launched in September 2014 for owner Jim Clark, Comanche’s design derives from studies of the IMOCA monohulls Macif and Banque Populaire, first and second in the 2012 Vendée Globe respectively. She differs from her closest 100’ rivals by her considerable beam, her mast stepped well aft and her boom ending directly above the transom. This configuration allows her to have a sail plan with a high aspect ratio.

VPLP 170′ Catamaran

This commission represents a natural successor to Hemisphere and Boreas, but has yet to be built. VPLP 170 should have been even bigger than Hemisphere with which she shares many design features.

Noah 88 (Kenzo)

Noah 88 was a preliminary project undertaken in collaboration with the former owner of Douce France in a bid to develop a range of motor-catamarans which could maintain a cruising speed of 12–15 knots. The Noah range was designed for comfort and habitability with broad living areas spread over three levels. All three models feature cosy […]

Ciliam

When VPLP launched Ciliam in 2003, the idea was to produce a fast sailing catamaran which was comfortable both inside and out. With this in mind, instead of a traditional coachroof, the firm decided on a superstructure which covered the entire main deck, a veritable innovation in those days. The result was an extremely spacious […]
